ABSTRACT: The researcher screened the ice-tea from six selected stalls at a mall in Manila namely Stall A, Stall B, Stall C, Stall D, Stall E and Stall F. The samples were aseptically collected in a pre-sterilized Gatorade bottle. The nutrient agar media was used for preliminary screening of the iced-tea for bacterial infections. The identification of bacteria was done through morphological examination in each cultured plate and by Gram staining method. The confirmatory tests were done using selective media. The Mannitol Salt Medium for confirmation of bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Eosin Methylene Blue Medium for the confirmation of bacteria Escherichia coli and other enteric bacteria. The screened tea in nutrient agar plates gave positive results and it was found out that Echerichia coli were present in all stalls and Pseudomonas aeruginosa was also present in Stall B. These bacteria are Gram-negative bacilli. The cultured plates were negative for Gram-positive bacteria. Mannitol Salt Agar cultured plates gave negative result. There was no Staphylococcus aureus in the iced-tea. In Eosin Methylene Blue Agar cultured plates gave positive result. Based on morphological appearance on each plate, the researcher confirmed that the bacterium present in the iced-tea was Echerichia coli. In addition to these bacteria, it has been examined that Salmonella typhi was also present in the iced-tea.
