ABSTRACT: Throughout the year, the educational system in the country has been greatly improved. It cannot be denied that the government is doing its part in protecting and developing the welfare of the youth. It is believed that education is the true essence of human development. Without education, development cannot be sustained. It is the key to fight poverty and underdevelopment. Greater emphasis on the quality of education as cited by Drucker will give rise to a society that will dominated by knowledge workers instead of manual workers. This study aims to analyze the factors affecting the increasing number of high school dropouts at Ramon Magsaysay High School SY (2004-2005). Specifically, the study aims to answer the following questions. How can the following factors cause high school dropouts in family, environment; and peer pressure? What are the effects of dropping out of school on the family, environment and peer pressure? Is there a significant difference between the factors and the effects on the family, environment and peer pressure? This study aims to determine the factors and effects of dropping out of school in family, environment and peer pressure. Descriptive method is used to gather information and facts in determining the factors affecting high school dropouts. It defines as involving collection of data in order to test hypothesis or to answer questions concerning the current status of the object of the study. (Sevilla 1997). The questionnaire was checked and approved by an authority prior to the distribution to the respondents. An expert in the field of research recommended the procedure used in the study. Convenient sampling is used because of the convenience it offers to the researchers. It does not give reliable data and the researchers cannot depend on it in making inferences about a population, (Sevilla 1997). There is a significant difference between the effects and factors of high school dropouts when tested at 0.5 level of significance utilizing the ANOVA.
