ABSTRACT: Advertising is a form of non-personal communication that allows a producer to market his product to their possible consumers (Kennedy, 1928). During the 1950's, advertising became an important part of the Philippine economy. Filipinos, who traditionally favored foreign goods were now more concentrated to locally made products. Filipino businessman who were at first unaware of the advantages of expensive advertising started investing in it (Pedro Teodoro, 1963). In a study conducted by the Philippines Statistics Authority last 2010, advertising ranked second among industries with top employment and opportunities supporting the demand in the market. This applied thesis is entitled theCollectives, inc. AND Strategic Works: A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE MANAGEMENT AND CREATIVE DEPARTMENT. The study will focus on the important functions in an advertising agency - operations on Management and Creatives Department. The comparison will be based on the operations of the Management based on the 5M's of Management following: Manpower, Money, Machine, Materials, and Methods of Execution. Moreover, the comparison wil also based on the 5 Steps of the Creative Process, given the following : Preparation, Incubation, Illumination, Evaluation, and Implementation. To make the study possible the researchers made use of an interview guide consisting experience verification questions. The major respondents of the study are : managers, finance heads, creative heads and production heads, Specifically, for theCollectives, Inc. Jake Ashley Valmoria (Marketing Manager), Merlyn Dumagpi (Project Fulfillment for Finance), Rudolf Ross Magno (Multimedia Department Head) for Strategic Works, Rolinda R. Rustia (Promo and Events Director), Nicky Ignacio (Senior Creative, Copy Winter), Ronald Cabanilla (Accounting Head). The researchers chose these respondents based on purposive and judgmental sampling technique. The end result will be the comparison of the operations of Management and Creative Department of Strategic Works and theCollectives, inc. reflecting on two structures that is basis for the success of a company. Upon the completion of the study the researchers establish that both companies have similar and differences based on the management and creative operations, the study basically concludes that the success of a company does not rely on the number of years a company has stayed in the industry, although it may differ in benefits offered. The success of a company relies on the Management of Man power and Man power of the company itself. The researchers recommend that agencies hire committed and flexible employees.
