ABSTRACT: Extraction of the coloring pigment from the barks of Talisai, Terminalia catappa linn. focused on the determination of its chemical and physical properties as well as its effectivity as a dye for food and fabric. The solvents used for the extraction were 1% HNO3, 1% KOH, ethanol and distilled water. The filtered extracts were run into rotary evaporator to concentrate. The crude extracts were use to test its properties and utilized as colorant for food (sago and gulaman) and fabric (nylon, cotton, wool and silk). Potassium Hydroxide extracts obtained the highest percentage yield, which was 23.0%, followed by 1% HNO3 which was 22.9% then, distilled water with 21.37% and lastly ethanol with 16.67%. Likewise, KOH extracts gave an appreciable result upon the administration to food and fabric.
