ABSTRACT: The study was made to determine the biosorption capabilities of Nostoc commune. Gogg's Nitropgen Medium (FNM) was used to propagate the test organism. The test organism was then introduced to water with varying concentrations of cadmium . Samples were obtained following the pre-set time intervals. Samples were filtered and then subjected to Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) to determine the Cadmium concentration remaining in the treated samples. For statistical analysis, ANOVA and Turkey's test were used. A decline of concentration in the treated samples was observed. Among all the concentrations. I ppm treatment showed the highest percent removal and sorption rate, it was followed by the next concentration which was 0.8 ppm, then by 0.6 ppm, and finally by 0.4 ppm. The data obtained was significantly different from each other. It denotes that the sorption rate for the different concentrations varies from each other .
