The null hypothesis raised in this study was that there is no significant relationship between the healthy lifestyle practices of the nursing students and the socio demographic profile which was tested at 0.05 level of significance. The descriptive method research was utilized in the study and a two-part questionnaire that was adopted and modified from the study of Ms. Ma. Luisa Aguada (2003) entitled Health Practices of SSS Personnel for Identification of Focus Area of Wellness Program was used to gather the needed data in this study. It consisted of a 30 item questionnaire. Purposive sampling technique was used where in a criteria set were as follows: only junior and senior nursing students who is currently enrolled this semester school year 2007-2008 of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and is taking up the regular load required for this semester were considered to be the respondents of this study. One hundred sixty two (162) from the third year and ninety six (96) from the fourth year with a total of 258 (75%) qualified to the above criteria set by the researchers out of the 343 total population of nursing students. Statistical treatment tools applied for this study are the following: (1) percentage distribution was used to answer problem number 1, (2) weighted mean for problem 2, (3) chi-square for problem number 3 and to answer problem number 4, the last 3 rankings from the weighted mean score was used as basis for the developed wellness program. Findings show that the socio demographic profile of the respondents is that there are more female nursing students as respondents compared to male nursing students; there are fewer fourth year nursing students as respondents than third year nursing students as respondents; and there are fewer students who belong to the below average status than the above average and average status. Furthermore, a very high extent of practice was obtained in the healthy lifestyle practices of the respondents in terms of the intellectual wellness dimensions. However, a high extent of practice was observed in the healthy lifestyle practices of the respondents in terms of the physical, emotional-mental, social and spiritual wellness dimensions. Moreover, in terms of environmental wellness dimension, an average extent of practice was observed in the healthy lifestyle practices of the respondents. In addition, the results show that In terms of gender, there is a significant relationship between the healthy lifestyle practices of the nursing students when they are grouped according to the gender aspect. Furthermore, In terms of year level, there is a significant relationship between physical, emotional-mental and social wellness dimensions of the nursing students when they are grouped according to the year level aspect. However, there is no significant relationship between year level and intellectual, spiritual and environmental wellness dimension. Lastly, for the socioeconomic status, the physical, emotional, social, environmental and intellectual dimension of wellness there is a significant relationship when they are grouped the socioeconomic statuses except for the spiritual dimension of wellness which has no significant relationship. It implies that socioeconomic status has a great impact on the physical, emotional, social, environmental and intellectual dimension of a person. With the above statement of findings the researchers recommends the following : 1) Upon the presentation of the proposed wellness program, the researchers will conduct the seminar to the nursing students for dissemination of information regarding healthy lifestyle practices, 2) Nurse educators can assist and manage students regarding the healthy lifestyle through the aid of the proposed wellness program. 3) With the help of this proposed wellness program, school administrators can utilize and create a program that counsel students with regards to their academic performances. 4) Family and community can enhance better relationship among family and community members. In addition, there will be an open communication and awareness of the society. The assessment of the lifestyle practices will develop awareness on the part of the parents as well as community members. 5) Finally, findings of this study may be used to conduct further studies in connection with the assessment of healthy lifestyle practices of nursing students or for the development of a much comprehensive wellness program in line with it.
