ABSTRACT: The main focus of this research depicted the relationship of axiety level among sophomore nursing in their first clinical exposure. This study was used to elicit relevant information from the respondents about their emotional preparedness, theoretical knowledge and clinical performance, in which both are incorporated during their initial meeting and the actual clinical experience. More specifically, this study aimed to answer the following: 1) What are the clinical experiences of sophomore nursing students during their first clinical exposure particularly to the three stages: Pre-clinical, Intra-clinical and Post-clinical experience? 2) What is the anxiety level of sophomore nursing students during their first clinical exposure? 3) Is there a significant relationship between the anxiety level of students and their first clinical exposure, with regards to the three clinical stages? 4) Is there a significant relationship between the anxiety level of students and the three domains of learning in the clinical exposure: Theoretical Knowledge, Clinical Performance (Skills) and Emotional Preparedness (Attitude)? 5) What are the coping strategies of sophomore nursing students with regards to their anxiety level: Appraisal-focused, Problem-focused and Emotion-focused? Descriptive research was designed to achieve more information about the characteristics within the particular field of study. Under the subcategories of descriptive research is the correlational research. As such, it showed the relationship between two or more variables in which the researchers can seek to explain and predict relationship among variables or test the relationship proposed by theoretical proposition.
