ABSTRACT: The study was undertaken with the objective of determining the factor that influenced the Academic Performance of the Midwifery students of Gordon College, Olongapo City by way of their Grade Point Average which was taken and computed against the computed mean of the questionnaire rating scale, based on their answers, on the three factors as independent, for the study against the dependent variables of academic achievements. The descriptive method of research was used with the questionnaire as the main instrument adopted in the research rating scale used by Laud (1978) in Notre Dame Educational Association Center Colleges. It contained 101 items; 31 related to the environment, 37 related to the teacher, and 33 related to the student himself. A five point scale was utilized in the interpretation and analysis. The respondents were one hundred thirty one (131) midwifery students from Gordon College, Olongapo City. The statistical measures were the frequency count, percentage, weighted mean and correlation analysis for the testing of hypothesis. Results showed that, with all the factors related to academic performance of the students, the environment factors ranked first, followed by student, and last is the teacher. The hypothesis that there is no significant relationship between the selected variables and the academic performance of the respondents is rejected. The Teacher and Environmental related factors have a significant relation to their GPA. Based on the findings and conclusions, the researcher recommends, that since this was the first study undertaken on the predictors of Gordon College students academic performance, a further study on the other factors that might influence the success and academic performance of the student. The parents should be made aware regarding the importance of the home environment in student academic achievement, the school should improve the facilities which are conducive to learning and it is important that teachers should continue to improve their teaching methods, attitudes, and habits.
