ABSTRACT: Musculoskeletal disorder are considered one of the main health problems among physical therapist due to the physical stresses at work such as patient handling and manual therapy techniques. In the Philippines, though the physical therapy services provided by interns are under the supervision of physical therapists, these manual activities may be assigned to them during their clinical training hence, exposing the interns to the same risk factors. The purpose of this study is to describe the prevalence of WRMDs symptoms among the PLM physical therapy interns batch 2014. The study is a prospective cross-sectional descriptive survey. The prevalence of work-related musculoskeletal symptoms amongst the participants during the last 5 months was measured during the Standardized Nordic Questionnaire and Cornell Musculoskeletal Discomfort Questionnaires. Obese I (37.5%) had 2 or more WRMDs followed by Normal (25%) and Underweight (12.5%) BMIs. Neck right shoulder, upper back and lower leg are able to cause severe discomfort 75% of the participants have no interference in ability to work. Symptoms of WMRDs were prevalent among the participants particularly those who belong to Category Obese I. The low back and neck area are the most common areas involve with WRMDs. Within 5 months of internship, majority of the participants did not have any interference in ability to work. Keywords: occupational injuries, premedical students, physical therapy
