ABSTRACT: This research is conducted to establish broader and comprehensive understanding of the public about HIV, their attitudes towards people living with HIV and how their characteristics determine these factors. Thus, it sought to establish relationships between personal values, biopshychosocial functioning and attitude of the Filipino youth towards people living with HIV. This would be used as a tool in changing the public attitude towards HIV. This could also be a basis of instigating programs specifically designed for people living with HIV. Descriptive method using correlational design was used to test if there is a significant relationship between personal values, biopsychosocial functioning and attitude of the respondents toward people living with HIV. The study was conducted in Muntinlupa City. Using convenience sampling technique, 400 college students from different barangays in Muntinlupa City, age 15-24 were asked to participate in the said study. Results of the study indicated that most respondents showed high level of Orderliness. They also showed high level of prejudice and stereotype towards people living with HIV. However, majority of the respondents showed low level of discrimination towards them. They also perceived their biopsychosocial functioning as high in terms of psychological distress, social interaction and support, relationships and sexual activity and current behavior. Pearson- r computation revealed that there is a significant negative relationship between personal values and attitudes toward people living with HIV and a positive correlation between attitude and perceptions on the biopsychosocial functioning of people living with HIV. Nevertheless, there is significant relationship between personal values and perceptions on the biopyschosocial functioning of people living with HIV. The findings of the study suggested to instigate educational awareness program for the youth as a preventive measure against the infection of HIV. Legislative measures are also recommended to intensify in order to protect people living with HIV against all forms of prejudice, discrimination and stereotype. Lastly, values formation programs are also suggested to be deepened in order to lessen the tendency of an individual to stigmatize people living with HIV.
