ABSTRACT: The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig (PLP) provides opportunities for the improvement of its faculty. However, no formal study has been done and used as the basis for the design of PLP's professional development programs. To help in this regard, the study sets out to determine the extent of understanding of Instructional Strategies, Curriculum Development Activities, Community Extension Service Activities, and Research Activities of all the full-time faculty which included faculty with special designations as College Deans, Area Chairs, and Coordinators in all the of the seven (7) Colleges of PLP in the First Semester of School Year 2007-2008. A researcher-constructed questionnaire was used in identifying the respondents strengths and weaknesses with respect to the four dimensions covered by the study. The study used purposive sampling since the respondents possess an insiders view of the research problems and are in a position to give realistic assessments of the current situation, and that the number of samples, with the background and expertise required by the present research, are limited at the locale. To determine the status of the faculty's extent of understanding with respect to the four dimensions under study, Weighted Mean, General Weighted Mean, and the Analysis of Variance were used. The study tried to determine if there were significant differences between these groups with respect to their extent of understanding of Instructional Strategies, Curriculum Development Activities, Community Extension Service Activities and Research Activities. The findings of the study showed that there were no significant differences in the extent of understanding of all the respondents with respect for the four dimensions that were assessed. The study recommended, as intervention, the inclusion in Pamantasan's professional development program the provision of intensive training in all of the assessed dimensions indicated by the respondents where they had from Moderate to Low Level of Understanding, the inclusion of other Instructional Strategies to expand the array of strategies the respondents could use in their lesson presentations, and writing workshops to develop guidelines for the design and implementation of professional development programs.
