ABSTRACT: This study was intended to support the thrust of reducing controllable downtimes by reducing changeover time therefore optimizing uptime in Battery Manufacturing. With the increasing demand of economical batteries in world market, there is a need to find revolutionary ways to survive the predestined global free trade. The research methodology used was the historical research method based on actual footage and actual tape recordings of current changeover activities, leading to the summary of collected data. Data analysis via Time and Motion Study pinpointed the true root cause of the prolonged activity time among the validated ones. Simulation of the proposed procedures highlighting Simultaneous Modular Sub-Processes and Significant team-up involving the right personnel supported by job rotation was applied to the existing process. A fifty percent reduction of the previous changeover time was achieved, accompanied by financial savings. Method engineering and improvement of the changeover activity, which will be introduced in the proposed Changeover Training, is recommended.
