This strategic plan was started January 2019. Data of key competitors and
industry players used in this study were the period of 2015, 2016 and
2017. This paper aims to identify the most appropriate strategy that would
address the problem found for TSM Shipping (Phils.), Inc. identified
detailed different internal and external environment of the company and
other players in the industry. A comparison was made with two
competitors highlighting each competitive advantage. The opportunities,
threats and relevant findings from the internal and external scanning
became inputs in formulating appropriate strategic tools. Its internal
analysis revealed a stable financial standing indicates slight improvements
are needed on its cost of services status as well as overall profitability.
External analysis revealed that the industry sees a stable demand of
officers and ratings in the next years as the Philippines has producing
bigger number of seafarers.
Using SWOT Analysis, Porter's Five Forces and SPACE Matrix revealed
that the best among all strategies is market penetration. Forecasted
financial statements were prepared to assess the impact of these
strategies to the overall financial health of the company and strategic
evaluation tools such as the Balanced Scorecard were also recommended
to further ensure that these strategies are still adaptable to changes in the
environment.
