General note ABSTRACT: <br/>A mosaic is an image compose of small different material, such as pebble or glass. A photomosaic, on the other hand is a digital image that is made up of other digital images, pieced together by software. In photographic imaging, a Photomosaic is a picture when viewed at low magnifications, the individual pixels appear as the primary images, while close examination reveals that the image is in fact made up of many hundreds or thousands of smaller images. As the proponents studies and analyses the algorithm, three problems were seen and experienced to the algorithm and the application itself; first, the RGB mean formula doesn't always give the right color representation for the R, G, and B, components of each Source Image and Target Image's tile that affects getting right best match. Second, the algorithm doesn't know if the source image can supply the necessary colors in the target image. Lastly, the algorithm is limited to JPEG image file format in selecting a target image and source images. The said problems were solved by the proponents by: providing a formula that will give one color result to be used in finding the best match. Providing a color checking that will help the user to know what colors the target image needs and what your source image's colors lack. And to accept other image file formats other than JPEG/JPG as target image and source images. Image file formats such as: BMP, PNG, GIF and TIFF. The proponents concluded that: By using Alpha L*a*b* color difference formula, selecting the best match image's grid color become more precise and useful mostly in images with semi-transparent areas. By creating a color checking it is now possible to know the existing and missing colors in the target and source images. By enabling to accept different image file formats, the user will have a chance to create a photomosaic in every different image file formats without conversion and losing the original properties of the photo.
