ABSTRACT: The study aimed to develop an interactive e-learning platform specifically focused on teaching basic Filipino sign language using computer vision techniques. The platform offered comprehensive instruction, including alphabets, phrases, presented through video, images, and audio. ISO 25010:2011, also known as the Systems and software engineering-Systems and software Quality Requirements and Evaluation (SQuaRE) – System and software quality models, provided a comprehensive framework for evaluating software quality attributes. Teachers under Special Education and students with speech or hearing impairements studying in public schools within the Metro Manila area assess the website. Evaluators provided an evaluation questionnaire that allowsd then to rate theu experience using the website on a scale ranging from 1 to 5 for teachers and 1 to 3 for students. This rating scale aims to measure the evaluators level of satisfaction and overall experience with the website. The project underwent testing in accordance with ISO 25010. The results by phase of the study test results demonstrated high levels of functional suitability, usability, accessibility, and performance efficiency, as outlined by the ISO model. Teachers rated the functional suitability, and performance efficiency with means ranging from 4.66 to 5.00, indicating a “Very Satisfied” level of quality. Similarly, students ratings fell within the “Satisfied” to “Neutral” range, affirming the application’s adherence to ISO standards and requirements. These findings underscore the positive performance of the website across all evaluated citeria, showcasing its effectiveness in meeting the needs of both teachers and students. Furthermore, qualitative feedback from both teachers and students emphasized the platform’s intuitive interface and engaging content, reinforcing its effectiveness in facilitating learning. The findings indicate that the integration of computer vision technology with educational content delivery can provide effective learning experiences for diverse learners in language learning. Developing such an e-learning website has the potential to enhance learners skills in Filipino Sign Language and improve knowledge retention. |
