Summary, etc. ABSTRACT: This study aimed to tackled the relationship of male nurses caring behavior and the level of patient satisfaction. Specifically, it sought to answer the following questions: What is the male nurses profile in terms of age and duty shift; what is the patients profile in terms of age, and gender; What is the extent of practice of Caring Behaviors of Male Nurses in terms of the Ten (10 Carative Factors of Jean Watson; What is the level of satisfaction of patient in terms of Ten (10) Carative Factors of Jean Watson; Is there a significant relationship on the level of satisfaction of patient when grouped according to age and gender; Is there a significant relationship on the stent of practice of male nurse's caring behaviors when grouped according to age and duty shift. Descriptive correlational approach of research was utilized in the study descriptive correlation research. It was descriptive research because it analyzed and interpreted the present nature of composition or process of phenomena. One of the main characteristics of the descriptive method was the comparison of the characteristics of the descriptive method was the comparison of the characteristics of two groups or cases to ascertain similarities or differences. The factors that were considered were: First, the present study involved finding the relative strengths and weaknesses of male nurses on their effectiveness of caring for patients in Emergency room and Medicine ward of Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center, Secondly this study identified the level of patient's satisfaction based on the caring behaviors rendered by nurses in terms of their age and gender. These factors mentioned don't need extensive use of statistical tools to test significance. By checking the tables presented, the render reader would be able to detect the trend of the study. The correctional method was used in this study. Its approach to the research problem was to identify various factors concerned in the problem, gather data about the, then analyze their relationships to certain observations and correlate them in terms of central tendencies valuable for identifying present trends or predicting future tendencies. The study utilized stratified random sampling with the male nurses and patients as bases for selection of respondents. The patient respondents must be 20 years old to 70 years old; was able to experience male nurse care; will agree to participate in the study; the male nurse must at least 2 years of hospital experience; will agree to participate in the study. The researchers used questionnaire-survey in gathering needed information and data to answer the specific questions presented in the study. The information was necessary in completing this research. The questionnaire used was adapted and modified using the Cronin's and Harrison Caring Assessment tool. Two sets of questionnaire were used which was answered by male nurses to determine their caring behaviors and the patient to determine their level of satisfaction based on the caring being rendered by a male nurse. The first questionnaire consists of a set of questions designed to gather the male nurse's profile in terms of their age and duty shift and also characteristics of a caring nurse which was rated using a -point Likert Scale. The second questionnaire consists of a set of questions designed to gather the patients profile in terms of age and gender and also the patient's level of satisfaction was rated using also a 4-point Likert Scale. Moreover, for the statistical treatment of the data, average weighted mean, percentage distribution, chi-square and Pearson R was utilized using Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 15 (SPSS v. 15). Based on the findings of the studies, it revealed that, out of 12 male nurse respondents, age groups 26-28 and 29-31 years old acquired an equal percentage of 33.40%, age group 23-25 years old got 16.70% while age group 35-37 and 32-34 got 8.30% and 8% respectively. 41.70% of male nurses are assigned to 6am-2pm shift, 33.33% in 2pm-10pm shift and 25% of the total population belongs to 10p-6am shift. Out of 24 patient respondents, age group30-39 acquired 29.00 %, age group 40-49 and 50-59 acquired an equal percentage of 20.80%, 8.40 % of the population belongs to age group 60-69 and age group 70-79 acquired the lowest percentage which is 4.20%. Out of 24 patient respondent 50% are male and 50% are female. The weighted mean of the Caring Behavior of Male nurses in terms of the Ten Carative Factos was 3.29 (excellent). This shows that the male nurse respondents were excellently demonstrated the Ten Carative Factors in rendering care to their patients. The weighted mean of level of satisfaction of patients in terms of the Ten Carative Factors was 3.38 which is equivalent to excellent. This shows that the Ten Carative factors were highly perceived by the patients. Caring behaviors of male nurses shows a significant relationship with the level of patient satisfaction. However, age and duty shift did not have a significant relationship with the male nurses caring behavior. Also age and gender did not have a significant relationship with the patient's level of satisfaction. Hence, from the findings of the study, the following conclusions are derived: In regards with the profile of the male nurses there is no significant relationship on the extent of practice of male nurse's caring behaviors. The person age and duty shift doesn't affect the caring behavior of male nurses. There is also no significant relationship on the level of satisfaction of patients when they are grouped according to age and gender. It means that patient's age and gender doesn't affect the level of their satisfaction in the caring behavior of male nurses towards them. There is a significant relationship between the male caring behaviors and satisfaction level of patient based on Jean Watson's Ten (10) Carative Factors. It means that the patient's level of satisfaction is the strongest predictor of the effectiveness of the caring behavior of male nurses. Based on the summary of findings the researchers offer the following recommendations: The nursing service division should disseminate the results of this study to the staff nurses in order for them to see collectively what their patients think about their caring practice. Since the response of the patients suggests that the caring behaviors of the nurses are perceived as excellent, the patients with quality and effective care. It is also important to emphasize that the high approval rate of the patients about their caring behaviors should not hinder them, but instead motivate them to aim for the best possible care that the patients could get. Also, inform them in what aspect of care should they put more effort for improvements. For example, the nurses know that the 10th Carative Factor (Allowance for existencial-phenomenological-spiritual forces) was the least perceived caring behaviors by the patients. In this way, the nurses will realize that they can actually do something to improve in this aspect of care. They would also appreciate that maximum utilization of this Carative Factor is soul-satisfying to the patients. The nursing students could consider this research as a reading material to expand their knowledge on the theory of Jean Watson, specifically on the Ten Carative Factors. By knowing this theory, it will be easier for them to apply it in providing care to their patients especially when they become professional registered nurses in the future. Watson's work can be used to guide and improve nursing practice. It can provide the nurse with the most satisfying aspects of practice and can provide the patient with holistic care which is necessary for human growth and development. By using this frae work, an individual contributes to the preservation of humanity and seeks to sustain caring in instances where it is threatened. The researchers recommend maximizing the number of respondents that they will including in the study. Increasing the number of samples that will be included within the population will help the future researchers to gain more accuracy with regards to their data that will also make the future researchers be able to generalize the findings of the study.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Utilizing other patients profile life for example, the severity of the patient's condition is recommended since it can be a good determinant whether it can cause significant difference in the perception of patients on nurse caring behaviors. This is in view of the fact that the profiles used by the researchers are found are found to be of no significance. In addition, the future researchers may also use a different nursing theory like for example, Leininger's Theory of Culture care, Diversity and University in conducting their study in order to find out whether nurses implements these nursing theories in providing holistic nursing care as well as individualized care as perceived by their patients. Moreover, patients with similar condition may be selected so that they will have the same health care needs. In this regard, similar nurse caring behaviors will be rendered to them, thus, equal assessment and evaluation of the quality of care will be done. And lastly, the researchers recommend utilizing other tool that measures nurse caring behaviors or just lessen the number of questions since it may consume a lot of time and answering may be a burden to the part of the respondents.
