Formatted contents note ABSTRACT: Grade separation reduces traffic congestion and improves vehicular speed by eliminating crossing conflicts brought about moving vehicles in an intersection. Signalized intersection like the CALAX – Sta. Rosa Road which manages a large volume of vehicles suffer from traffic congestion as his leads to Tagaytay city, one of the favored tourist destinations in the Philippines. A 16-hr Traffic count was performed from 6am – 10 pm for two days (Wednesday and Sunday) to obtain the data for computation and analyzation of the intersection. Calculation of Level of Service (LOS) for signalized intersections was used and it was determined that the intersection experiences LOS E. Level of Service was also computed where the signal timing adheres to the optimum cycle length to validate that he signalized intersection is still congested even in the most optimized timing results to only LOS C, identifying a need to further improve the intersection’s vehicular delay. Employing different grade separation techniques (two left turning lanes, one left turning lane, and flyover), simulations using VISSIM software was done following standards set by the Department of Public Works and Highways for geometric specifications. It provided improved vehicular traffic with two left turning lanes obtaining the highest Level of Service, which is A. Another parameter studied by the researchers is the improvement in terms of average vehicular speed. The result of the simulated different grade separation intervention in VISSIM showed that if implemented, all interventions will result in average speed increase with two left turning lanes having the most improvement.
