Formatted contents note ABSTRACT: STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM: Electricity is very important in every household because without this, it is not possible to use lights, appliances, and electrical devices present in every house. Although electricity is very helpful, it can sometimes be dangerous because it can cause electrical fires. Another problem faced nowadays are frequent water interruptions that are unannounced, causing temporary water shortage in households. Gas leaks can occur from faulty gas appliances or pipework. Natural gas and Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) are not poisonous, but both can lead to fires and explosions, LPG leakages are hard to identify since LPG is colorless, this could be the start of devastating fires. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY: The design project, “IoT Home System: A microcontroller-based Water Pressure and Gas Leakage Monitoring with Electrical Load Control”, is composed of three subsystems for household use. The main concept of the system is to automate the control of electrical loads, monitor possible gas leakage, and the automation of water storage in case of water interruption, with which controlling and monitoring can be done in the mobile application. In this study, there are three subsystems: Electrical Load Control System, Gas Leakage Monitoring System, and Emergency Water Supply System. The system made use of different sensors to collect data in order to process information about light automation, gas leakage, and possible water interruptions. These data are sent to the mobile application through the internet. SUMMARY OF FINDINGS: The resulting system allows and enables people to control their electrical loads and monitor if there are any gas leakages in their kitchen using the Electrical Load Control System and Gas Leakage System respectively. It also allows the users to monitor and check the water pressure in their main water line if there will be possible water interruptions. If the probability of having a water interruption is high, the Emergency Water Storage System will automatically store water for future purposes. The proponents created and developed a mobile application that serves as the controller of the Electrical Load Control System. For the monitoring, the mobile application displays the current status of the Gas Leakage System, and for the Emergency Water Storage System it will display the water pressure, and the probability of water interruption on the mobile application in real time. CONCLUSION: The proponents were able to develop a mobile application that can be used to control the electrical load, and can monitor the water pressure in the household. The Gas Leakage System can monitor the area near the gas tank, and has preemptive measure if there will be a gas leak, and will alarm the mobile application in real time, and the Emergency Water Storage System can detect if there is a change in water pressure, and will store water in the storage tank if there is at least a 51% chance of water interruption, and if the storage tank is not full. The water pressure versus time graph can be viewed in the mobile application in real time.
