Formatted contents note Abstract This study intends to assess factors affecting the decision of Filipinos to go abroad for work and looks at the welfare and protection of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). The analytical framework investigates the relationships between forms of emotional well-being and job opportunity, salary expectation, and government support for overseas employment. The decision to migrate is primarily emotional and material among OFWs, who are the source of foreign currency through remittances into the Philippine economy or have been highly affected by better financial conditions. It then investigates the interrelationship of these factors and their effects on whether one chooses to work overseas. With this analysis, the researcher intends to share what the research lends itself to policy-influencing decisions about improving OFW welfare, strengthening local sources of job opportunities, and enhancing government programs and support systems. Ultimately, it is expected that the study’s results will emphasize these factors that influence decisions to migrate and recommend a more well-formed approach to protecting the rights and welfare of Filipino migrant workers. Keywords: Overseas Filipino Workers, Migrants, Push-Pull Theory, Welfare, Financial Instability, Emotional Well-being, Institutional, Social Exchange Theory
