Formatted contents note ABSTRACT: In vending machine retail settings, several persistent challenges hinder operational efficiency and customer engagement. These include the absence of real-time monitoring systems, continuous and high electricity consumption, and the lack of interactive features for users. To address these concerns, the researchers designed and developed an innovative IoT-based smart vending system equipped with solar panels and conversational AI technology. This integrated solution aims to revolutionize the traditional vending machine setup by enhancing its sustainability, functionality, and user-friendliness. The system utilizes a network of IoT sensors and modules that enable remote and real-time monitoring of inventory levels. Operators are instantly notified when stock for a particular item falls below a set threshold, allowing for timely replenishment and minimizing the risk of product unavailability. This real-time management capability significantly streamlines the operational workflow and reduces the need for manual inventory checks. Moreover, the inclusion of solar panels addresses the issue of energy consumption by supplementing or fully powering the machine using renewable energy. This not only lowers operating costs but also contributes to environmental conservation by reducing dependence on grid electricity. To further enhance the user experience, the system incorporates voice recognition and conversational AI. Customers can interact with the vending machine using natural language, which makes the process of selecting and purchasing items more intuitive, inclusive, and accessible---especially for individuals with disabilities or limited technical knowledge. The results of the study show that the system provides reliable inventory tracking, improves operational efficiency, and reduces environmental impact. Overall, this smart vending solution successfully integrates IoT, AI, and renewable energy to modernize retail automation.
