ABSTRACT: An inventory of macrobenthic algae using the shores of Barangay Guis-guis, Sariaya, Quezon was carried out to determine the species of macrobenthic algae present in the study area. A 100 meter square parallel to the shore was established and sampling was done once on the montj of January 2005. The collected specimens were preserved in a proliferated bags with cotton soaked in denatured alcohol, mounted on illustration board, then air-dried. The specimen were then identified and a dichotomous key was constructed using morphological characterisitcs such as type of thallus, shape of fronds and branches, plany symmetry and branching system. Six species of macrobenthic algae were collected, belonging to three classes. Only one species each was obtained under class Chlorophyceae and class Phaeophyceae, namely Enteromorpha intestinalis and Padina japonica respectively, while in class Rhodophyceae there were 4 species namely Gracillaria coronopifolia. Hypnea cervicornis, Hypnea charoides and Laurencia flexilis.
