ABSTRACT: This research study aims to provide an new knowledge about the gender differences in social networking sites usage, self-esteem of young adults. The researcher recognized the importance of social networking sites in the lives of young adults especially the college students and so the researcher decided to use this as a variable for the study and self-esteem as it was always associated with the social media, was also used as another variable for this research study along with the gender of the participants. The research was conducted at the university where the researcher currently studies, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, and used the BS Psychology students, composed of 93 female students and 19 male students, with a total of 112 participants to be the sample population for the study. The Social Networking Time Usage Scale (SONTUS) and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) were used as the instruments for the research study to quantify and measure the social media usage and self-esteem of the participants. The researcher accepted the hypotheses and found that there was no significant difference in the social networking sites usage and self-esteem of the group of respondents of the study.
