ABSTRACT: Living in a world with standard perception about family is challenging for single mothers. While also dealing with the resentment of the society, managing the demands of being a caregiver and provider for the family challenges the resiliency of single mothers. Our society overlooks how single mothers choose to suppress their feelings and act as if everything is going well. From these issues, the researcher was motivated to explore the resiliency and coping strategies employed by single mothers in Manila. The Filipino Coping Strategy Scale and Resiliency Scale were administered to 100 single mothers. For the analysis, the researcher used Pearson r correlation to determine if the variables has any relationship. The findings of the study reveals that problem-solving, religiosity, substance use, and tolerance are four coping strategies single mothers employ. Majority of the single mothers in this study were found to be highly resilient. Only moderate resilient single mothers has shown significant relationship with religious coping strategy. The current findings of this study also indicates single mothers often use emotion-focused more than problem-focused coping strategies. High and low resilient mothershas insignificant relationship with the coping strategies. To address the findings, the researcher proposes as well-being program to help the single mother's mental health.
