ABSTRACT: The healthcare system in public hospitals is one of the most mismanaged sectors in the Philippines. A lot of factors contribute to this fact, including proper leadership and strategies that will solve current issues, i.e., overcrowding due to the large number of patients seeking affordable and accessible healthcare services. Assessment of public hospitals through patient experience and health outcomes should be done regularly especially in a developing country, such as the Philippines whereas public healthcare is inefficient in most aspects. It is important to identify factors influencing patient experience to improve the quality of the healthcare system. In this study, three (3) public hospitals located in Manila City were investigated in terms of patient experience and health outcomes. Data was gathered through survey methods were analysed using statistical tools. Demographic profiles of the respondents in terms of age, gender, the type of their health insurance, the public hospital where they went to, and the specialization of their doctors were obtained and summarized. The evaluation of the respondents to physical facilities and healthcare delivery - were found to be challenging to patients who went to the 3 public hospitals. In relation to these results, both patient satisfaction and health outcomes were rated by the respondents as good. These results showed that public hospitals should make improvements in their physical facilities and healthcare delivery system to meet the needs and demands of the patients, which in turn may improve patient satisfaction and overall health outcomes.
