Abstract This research investigated the crowdfunding and peer-to-peer lending as an alternative financing strategies for Barangay Micro Business Enterprises (BMBES) within barangay 657 of Intramuros, Manila. By comparing the two emerging alternative financing strategies, this study aims to provide valuable insights into their benefits and challenges for empowering BMBES. Through a comprehensive review of literature, case studies, and actual data, this research examines the unique characteristics and functionalities of crowdfunding and peer-to-peer lending platforms. The researcher used a mixed method research designed to be able to compare these financing strategies. The findings of this study contribute to a deeper understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with alternative financing methods for BMBES in Intramuros. It also highlights the potential of crowdfunding and peer-to-peer lending to democratized access to capital/credit, overall business growth, application process, interest rates, hidden charges and technology expertise of BMBES in this barangay. Additionally, the research offers practical future recommendations for future researchers, policymakers, and BMBES seeking to leverage these financing strategies.
