Action note: In: Summary: ABSTRACT: Introduction: This research aimed to explore the experiences of the social workers of Quezon City Drug Treatmentand Rehabilitation Center (TAHANAN) in working with drug dependents . Their experiences includes the challenges and difficulties they've encountered in working with their clientele. This study clearly shows how their experiences developed them professionally as a social worker, and personally, as an individual. Methods:The researchers adapted the qualitative type of research design and used a descriptive research design. The study is achieved through the use of a questionnaire-interview research technique. Conclusions: The researchers were able to conclude that the work with drug dependents is hard and challenging but it is meaningful and fulfilling for the worker. Working with drug dependents also honed their personal and professional development as a whole because of the different skills, strategies and techniques they are using in working with drug dependents. The struggles and difficulties they've encountered became significant parts of their learning and development of professional self. Recommendation: The researchers recommends that this study may be improved by future student-researchers, for TAHANAN to create internal policies that may help the social workers and their support units address the challenges and problems brought by working with the drug dependents, and for the students of social work so that they can see the importance of the profession's work with drug dependents.
