ABSTRACT Intramuros is one of the well - known tourist spots in the Philippines. Every nooks and corners of the walled city have different colorful stories to tell. However, some of them are left unexplored due to varying factors. This is somewhat alarming since it is history that is at stake. In connection, this study entitled An Exploratory Study on the Significant Sites and Structures in Intramuros, Manila as Suggested by the National Artist Nick Joaquin in 'Sa Loob Ng Maynila' Published in 1988: A Basis for a Video Production, generally aimed to examine the people's awareness towards the five sites and structures in Intramuros, Manila - Cuartel de España, Ayuntamiento, Hospital de San Juan de Dios, Observatorio Meteorologico del Mucipal de Ateneo Manila and St. Paul's Hospital - that were all mentioned by Nick Joaquin. Three respondents, two Intramuros tourist guides and a historian from Intramuros Administration were chosen purposively. Descriptive method was used in gathering the data. Archiving and interviews were also used. To validate and to provide useful insights regarding the study, a historical researcher from the National Historical Commission of the Philippines and an architect from the Intramuros Administration were interviewed also. Upon data analysis, the McNamara Six Points Factor was used. The researchers ended up with the following results: 1.) the five sites and structures have historical significance, with remarkable stories to tell; 2.) not all however are aware of their value in our history; 3.) different factors caused the places to change physically thus resulting on the lost of their original value; 4.) re - education on some of the five sites and structures' values are a great challenge today.
