ABSTRACT The recent statistics from the Commission on Human Rights reveals that gender-based physical discrimination among Filipino lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender individuals (LGBT's) is still rampant in the country. It shows that despite of the massive awareness of many Filipinos with regard to the existence and the present plight of these LGBT's; still, cases of discrimination involving them are still burgeoning. In-depth interviews with four case studies, all of whom come from the LGBT sector, were conducted to dig into the deeper stories of these LGBT's. These four case studies are victims of gender-based physical abuse at home, school, workplace and community. Physical, emotional, mental and social ill-effects manifested in these LGBT's during and after the incidents of abuse done against them. Aside from the bruises and wounds they received due to the gender-based physical abuse, the negative psychological effects they experienced after which were truly incomparable. Accordingly, there came a point when they lost their self-esteem and that they found it absolutely difficult to socialize with other people for a fear that they might receive the same maltreatment due to the gender preferences. Interviews with both the government and non-government organization were also carried out in order to acquire sufficient data and insights about the study. As for the data on the number of cases of gender-based physical abuse among Filipino LGBT's the Commission on human Rights (CHR) disclosed a document which contains the most recent statistics that discusses such. The Manila Police District, on the other hand, divulged that there is no desk yet in any police office in the country that primarily serves the LGBT victims since there is no law yet that has been passed aimed at creating such . Meanwhile, non-government LGBT organizations such as Ang Ladlad and Kapederasyon believe that the issue on the physical abuse and discrimination committed against LGBT's remain unresolved because of the absence of a national law that would protect the rights and the welfare of Filipino LGBT's. Upon conducting in-depth interviews with the aforementioned persons/groups of persons, the researchers found out that the issue with regard to gender-based physical abuse is undoubtedly happening. However, despite of this, there is no law yet that aims to protect them from such.
