ABSTRACT: This study Identification and Prevalence of Gstro-Intestinal Parasites among Selected Students Aged 4-6 years ol in two schools in Novaliches, Quezon City was aonducted on the months of November-December of 2005. The study was able identify and to know the prevalence rate of gastro-intestinal parasites among selected subjects of Mater Carmeli School and Lagro Elementary School in Novaliches, Quezon City. Among 83 subject who participated in this study, a total of 27 subjects were found to be positive for the infection 21 coming from the boys and 6 from the the girls. On the other hand, fifty-six subjects gave a negative result. Fecal specimens were collected and examined using FECT, Harada Mori Culture Method and Kato-Thick Modified Smear Technique. Overall, 33% of the total population was infected with the parasites. Twenty-five percent of the male population was positive and 7% for the female while two subjects were detected to have mixed infection. Two species of helminths were identified. Among the parasites detected, Ascaris lumbricoides was the most prevalent (25%). Males had higher prevalence of Ascaris lumbricoides than females.
