Action note: In: Summary: ABSTRACT: This study aimed to fractionate the coconut makapuno embryo as a source of frowth factor. It aimed to test the effectivity in promoting germination and growth of the different seeds (centrosema purbescene, kudza, mustard and eggplant). The experimental method consists of three parts namely; collection and preparation of materials, fractionation and bioassay of bioactive components and detection of plant growth factor. The coconut makapuno embryo was homogenized with ethanol, and then, extracted with petroleum ether and were concentrated. The two extracts were subjected for screening for the possible organic compounds in the detection of plant growth factor such as unsaturated and triterpenes, steroid (cardioactive) glycosides tannins and proteins. Of the four screenings done, ethanol extract mostly gave a positive results obtained from all the components tested then petroleum ether extract wherein obtained a positive result in Salkowski test in the screening for unsaturated Sterols and Triterpenes and Ninhydrin test in the screening for proteins only. Biological assay of Coconut Makapuno Embryo that contained protein as the detected plant growth factor showed effect to the different seeds samples. Other editions:
