Action note: In: Summary: ABSTRACT: This study was designed to determine the biodegrading ability of Phanerochaete chrysosporium in the degradation of polyethylene plastics. Phanerochaete chrysosporium was inoculated in the liquid mineral medium, with the 50 mg polyethylene plastic strips that served as the Carbon source from the liquid mineral medium . The evaluation of the degradation potential of Phanerochaete chrysosporium was done by determining the mucelial dry weight of the said fungi using glucose as Carbon source in Treatments 1 to 4 and Ca (NO3) as the Nitrogen source in Treatments 5 to 7. The evaluation was done every after fifteen days for two times. The result of the study showed that there was no significant difference in the microbial growth curve of Phanerochaete chrysosporium in Treatments 1 to 4 using glucose as carbon source and also same with Treatments 5 to 7, there was no significant difference in the microbial growth curve of Phanerochaete chrysosporium in Ca (NO3)2 as the Nitrogen source. There was no loss of weight in the treated polyethylene plastic strips using the Analytical Balance. About the structure of the poluethylene plastic the changes happened is almost the same with the structure if the polyethylene plastic before it was treated. Other editions:
