ABSTRACT: The experiments described here demonstrate the feasibility of chrysoidine dye degration in aqueous solutions using titanium dioxide and UV photolysis. The study wants to find out which of the parameters and concentrations used will give the fastest rate of degradation and will the catalyst and UV light affect the rate of degradation. The photocatalytic degration of chrysoidine dye using UV light and titanium dioxide was investigated. Photodegration of chrysoidine was monitored through UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The effect of UV irradiation and efficiency of titanium dioxide were evaluated. The condition which had the presence of both the catalysts and UV light was observed to have the highest rate of degradation. However, the photodecomposition effect of UV light alone is not sufficient without the condition of a photocatalyst. The results also showed that the experiment followed a pseudo second-order rate of reaction.
