Undergraduate Thesis (BSE major in Biology) Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, 2006.;ABSTRACT: This study determined the inhibitory effect of the Tubang Bakod (jathropha curcas) leaves and seeds extract on the growth of bacterial wilt (Ralstonia solanacearum) of eggplant (Solanum melongena I.) This research has four (4) treatments, 100% of Tubang Bakod (Jatropha curcas) seeds extract; the positive (+) check which was commercially prepared antibacterial agent and the negative check which was distilled water. Each treatment includes four replicates. One way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to identify if there was a significant difference between the different treatments. The results of the screening for the identification of the inhibitory effect of the Tabang Bakod (Jathro curcas) leaves and seeds extract were not effective in inhibiting the growth of Ralstonia solanacearum. While the commercially prepared antibacterial agent as the control group showed positive in inhibiting the growth of Ralstonia solanacearum with an average of 14.31. The Tubang bakod (Jathropha curcas) leaves extract and Tubang Bakod (Jathropa curcas) seeds extract were not significantly different in terms of the number of inhibition zone. Their active compounds were found not effective in controlling Ralstonia solanacearum. While commercially prepared antibacterial agent as the positive control was significantly different with Tubang bakod (Jathropha curcas) leaves extract. And the commercially prepared antibacterial control was significantly different with the Tubang bakod (Jathropha curcas) seeds extract. Based on the findings, it was therefore concluded that the Tubang bakod (Jathropha curcas) leaves and seeds extract were not effective in inhibiting the growth of the bacterial wilt (Ralstonia solanacearum ) of eggplant (Solanum melongena I. 56
