Action note: In: Summary: The insecticidal property of Adelfa (nerium indicum mill) LEAF EXTRACT AGAINST COCKROACHES (periplaneta americana) was investogated. Thsi study was conducted to determine whether the leaves of Adelfa (nerium indicum mill) extracted by filtering using cheese cloth and Whatman filter paper could be effective as the commercial insecticide Baygon Chalk which served as the positive control, three concentrations were obtained from the leaf extract using distlilled water as a solvent. Test extracts produced were 25%, 50% and 75% leaf extract of Nerium Indicum Mill. Results showed that the mortality rate of Perplaneta americana was high using the 50% and 75% concentration of tests extracts with a result of 100% within eight hours while 100% of cockroaches died after 14 hours using the 25% concentration. The positive control showed mortality rate after 30 minutes, Statistiocal anaysis shpwed that there is significant difference between 25% concentration and the positive control, but it also proves that the rest plantt exhibited an insecticidal property and could be an alternative insect pest against cockroaches (Periplanet americana.
