Five varying concentrations of chromium (1ppm, 2ppm, 3ppm, 4ppm and 5ppm) were used. BG-11 served as the culture media and diluent for the treated and untreated isolates. Effects of chromium on Chlorococcum humicola were determined in terms of color and shape cells. Biosorption rate and cell density were evaluated using atomic absorptiom spectrophotometer and UV-vis spectrophotometer. Analysis of variance was used to determine if there is a significant difference on the biosorption rate and cell density among treatments using minitab and SPSS statistical software. Chlorococcum humicola exhibited changes in color, from rich dark green to fading dark green due to the decrease of chlorophyll content. No changes on the shape of the cell was observed, all treatments are the same as the control with normal spherical shape of cell. For the growth rate Chlorococcum humicola, there is a significant difference between 1ppm and 2ppm compared to control at 469nm of absorbance while at 429nm of bsorbance it was found out that 1ppm, 2ppm and 3ppm have a significant difference with that control. In 4ppm concentration there is a higher biosorption rate of chromium compared to 3ppm and 5ppm. At 0.05 level of significance, it was found out that there is a significant difference in the biosorption rate between 4ppm and 5ppm concentrations. Other editions:
