ABSTRACT: The Philippines, known for its rich biodiversity and diverse ecosystems, is home to a wealth of medicinal plants that have long aided indigenous people and traditional healers. However, in recent years, increased urbanisation and modernization have resulted in a loss of awareness and appreciation for these medicinal jewels, jeoparding their health advantages. To prevent this trend and promote long-term use of therapeutic herbs, an intelligent system is developed that uses Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and machine learning algorithms to accurately identify plants. The thesis project introduces a mobile application that serves as a tool for the preservation and promotion of medicinal plant knowledge. The application, which uses powerful plant picture identification driven by CNN, allows users such as bontanists, herbal practioners, researchers, and enthusiasts to accurately identify medicinal plants. This not only makes it easier to identify medicinal plants, but it also helps to contribute in the preservation of traditional medicinal practices. One of the key features of the application is the incorporation of a collaborative platform called “feed”. This feature allows users to upload images of plants for verification by experts or fellow enthusiasts. With this, application creates a dynamic community driven environment that enriches the database with diverse plant images and information. Beyond plant identification, the chatbot serves as a platform serves as a platform for users to learn about the historical uses, preparation methods, and cultural significance of medicinal plants, fostering an intergenerational knowledge. The goal is to merge technology with community participation, reigniting interest in mdecinal plants and promoting their responsible use. The application not only empowers users to identify plants but also plays a crucial role in preserving cultural practices, contributing to the sustnaible conservation of medicinal plant wisdom in the Philippines.
