Action note: In: Summary: Abstract: The study aimed to assess the status of the present practice teaching program in mathematics education in selected NCR teacher education institutions and to propose a revitalized mathematics teacher training program. The descriptive evaluation was utilized in this study. Two sets of questionnaires were prepared and used. One is intended for the group of administrators (deans, department chairs, and supervising professors), faculty, and students major in mathematics and presently enrolled in practice teaching. The other set is for the cooperating / critic teachers of the student-teachers. Interview guide questions was also used to gain additional information especially in validating and verifying responses in the survey form. A total of two hundred thirty four (234) respondents participated in the study. The statistical treatment used in this study consisted of descriptive and inferential statistics. In order to describe the demographic profiles of the institutions' respondents and the groups of administrators, faculty and student respondents, the frequency and percentage were considered. The student respondents, the frequency and percentage were considered. The weighted mean was used to determine the central tendency of the respondents' assessment on the various criterion of the practice teaching program. The results of the respondents' assessment showed that both the administrators and faculty perceived every aspect of the program positively. On the other hand, the students' assessment revealed that some aspects of the program need further improvement in the areas of curriculum, instruction, faculty, instructional materials/ technique, and student teaching requirements. The teaching performance of the student-teachers as perceived by the cooperating teachers showed that they already developed the skills needed of becoming effective future teachers. As regards to values and attitudes, being cooperative is seen as an outstanding attitude of the student-teachers. The student-teachers' creativeness in improving teaching-learning process need further improvement especially in adapting appropriate teaching approach. The study recommended that administrators should consider the findings of this study in examining the extent by which their practice teaching program serves the student-teachers. The perceived strengths and weaknesses of the program could help both the administrators and faculty to enhance/ improve the program in general. It is strongly recommended that administrators and faculty consider the proposed revitalized mathematics teacher training program for this may serve as a guide in developing their own program.
