ABSTRACT: Statement of the Problem The focal point of the study was to determine the extent of the principal's involvement in the cooperative. Specifically, it will answer the following question: 1. What is the socio-demographic profile of the members in terms of, a. educational attainment b. position in the school c. length of membership in the cooperative d. position in the cooperative e. economic status f. capital share 2. What is the degree of involvement of the members in terms of the following cooperative attributes; a. cooperative education b. delivery of services c. accountability of members and officers d. distribution of net surplus e. facility improvement 3. How do the members perceived the principal's involvement in terms of the above cooperative attributes? 4. Is there a significant relationship between the members' socio-demographic profiles and their involvement in the cooperative attributes? 5. Is there a significant relationship between the members' socio-demographic profiles and their perception of the principal's involvement in the cooperative attributes? 6. Are there significant differences between members' involvement in the cooperative attributes and their perception of the principal's involvement in the cooperative attributes? RESEARCH METHODOLOGY Des criptive Method and Qualitative Research were used in this study. The research was conducted using purposive sampling among one hundred thirty four regular members of the Ramon Magsaysay High School Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Espana, Manila. A self-constructed test was used to measure the degree of members involvement and their perception of the principal's involvement in the cooperative attributes. It was validated through the help of experts and pre-tested among thirty members of the Lakandula High School Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Tondo, Manila. STATISITCAL METHOD 1. Percentage was used to know the socio demographic profiles of the respondents. 2. The mean was used to get the degree of members involvement nd perceived principal's ` involvement in the cooperative attributes. 3. Chi-square was utilize to get the significant relationship between members' socio- demographic profiles and the degree of their involvement as well as their perceived principal's involvement in the cooperative attributes. It was tested at 0.05 level of significance. 4. The t-test was used to determine the significant difference between members' involvement in the cooperative attributes and their perception of the principal's involvement in the cooperative attributes. It was tested at 0.05 level of significance. SUMMARY OF FINDINGS 1. Socio-Demographic Profiles a. 74 0r 55.22% of the respondents have masteral units, 1 or .75% is pursuing doctoral degree b. 90 0r 67.16% of the respondents were regular teachers. c. 67 or 50% of the respondents are members of the cooperative for more than 3 years, 25 or 18% are pioneer of the cooperative. d. 120 or 89.55% of the respondents are members and 14 or 10.45% are officers. e. 87 0r 64.92% of the respondents considered their family income as sufficiently enough. f. 85 or 63.43% of the respondents belong to those with P1,500 up to P10,000 capital share in the cooperative. 2. Degree of Involvement of Members in the Cooperative Attributes. The highest among the cooperative attributes is facility improvements having an average weighted mean of 3.71 interpreted as large extent. The lowest is the delivery of services having an average weighted mean of 3.39 and interpreted as average extent. 3. Perceived Principal's Involvement in the Cooperative Attributes. All of the cooperative are in the large extent, which has a total average weighted mean of 3.69 Members acknowledge the principal as a figure of authority in the school who will promote their advantage in the cooperative. 4. The chi-square reveals that no significant relationship exist between members, socio demographic profiles and the cooperative attributes. Members need to understand that true nature and character of the cooperative because it is a different business enterprise. 5. It is found out in the chi-square that among the socio demographic profiles economic status and capital share were significantly related to the perceived principal's involvement in the cooperative attributes because members seek the protection of the principal to safeguard their investment in the cooperative. 6. The t-test showed a significant difference between members ' involvement in the cooperative attributes, rejecting the null hypothesis. CONCLUSION Data accepted the null hypothesis that there is no significant relationship between members' socio demographic profiles and their involvement in the cooperative is a different business enterprise, which members need to understand through continuous education. It also showed that in the perceived principal's involvement in the cooperative attributes economic status and capital share among the profile variables that have significant relationship because members want their investment safe and to continuously avail the services of the cooperative which are helpful for their living. Reason why in the t-test, a significant difference was revealed between members degree of involvement in the cooperative attributes and their perceived principal's involvement in the cooperative attributes. Members acknowledge the principal as an important figure of authority in the school, who will promote their interest and welfare. RECOMMENDATION 1. Training should be given among principals on cooperative education conducted by competent authority. 2. A guideline should formulated to serve as parameters of the principal in dealing with the cooperative. 3. Cooperative education should be integrated in the reaching course, since the Department of Education has the largest number in the government bureaucracy. 4. A committee should informed to evaluate the cooperative operation, which includes school's stakeholders. 5. This study can be a springboard for a much wider research locale.
