ABSTRACT: The significance of this directed study is the broadening of the potential of implementing Electronic Commerce in an Academic Institution. Electronic Commerce is one of the most demanding areas of the Internet. Internet is a massive global network of computers which is becoming an essential medium for commerce, joining mail and telephone catalog ordering. The study presents the inherent capability of Internet in local and international institutions. The design of an Electronic Commerce (EC) is intended for the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM). The study identifies the areas that an academic institution can take advantage of this technology and design the EC framework for the PLM. It also presents the advantages of EC to the current operation and processes in the academe as well as the benefits that can be incurred from it, as well as the incorporation of data security for protection mechanisms of the designed system. Electronic Commerce is extremely young, and consequently, most of its applications have been dependent upon the business-oriented environment. This directed study implements the concepts of electronic Commerce for Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila by designing a prototype using Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) programming.
