Action note: In: Summary: ABSTRACT: Algorithms and microcomputer programs are developed for the analysis of multistory buildings, particularly, static analysis to determine the horizontal distribution of lateral forces and free vibration analysis. Floors are assumed to be infinitely rigid in their own plane and the framing system is represented by an assemblage of plane frame substructures consisting of horizontal beams and vertical columns or shearwalls. Static condensation is employed to reduce the degrees of freedom of the substructures. The resulting equations for the overall structure correspond to only three degrees of freedom of the algorithms/programs apply to buildings that are unsymmetrical and nonrectangular in plan and those with vertical irregularities and partial floor diaphragms. Outputs include three-dimensional mode shapes, vibration periods, structure (floor) displacements and frame lateral displacements and forces. Other editions:
