ABSTRACT. Statement of the Problem: This study aims to determine the relationship between the exposure to pornography and the commission of sexual offenses among adolescents in selected jails in Metro Manila. The study likewise seeks to answer the following specific questions: 1. What is the personal profile of adolescent sexual offenders with regard to the following variables: 1.1 Age 1.2 Civil status 1.3 Religion 1.4 Educational attainment 1.5 Birth order 1.6 Number of siblings 2. What is the type of pornographic materials these adolescent sexual offenders are exposed to? 3. What are the effects of exposure to pornography in terms of: 3.1 Psychological effects 3.2 Social effects 3.3 Ethico-moral effects 4. Is there a significant relationship between and among these selected variables with the commission of sexual offenses? 5. Is there a significant relationship between the exposure to these pornographic materials to the commission of sexual offenses? 6. What are the specific types of sexual offenses committed? Methodology: Gathering responses through questionnaires and interview, data were collated and prepared from among 10-18 years old adolescent respondents detained in different precincts in Taguig, Pateros, Parañaque, Pasay, Las Piñas, and Makati. Statistical Treatment: The statistical tools used for this research are Frequency Distribution, Percentage Distribution, Pearson's R, and Stepwise Regression. Summary of Findings: The research found out that 17 years old dominate the adolescent offender-respondent. Most of them are Catholics with around 71%. Almost all respondents were not able to finish secondary education. And that most respondents are middle children. And that most resources of pornography were said to be from newspaper and tabloids. Conclusion: In the analysis of the processed data, the study concludes that there is a significant relationship between and among variables with the commission of sexual offense. This was because of the fact that all variables stated had a significant beta coefficient of multiple regression of 0.67471025 or 67.47% which proves a significant relationship. However, relationship between sexual offense and exposure per se does not conclude a link, for exposure needs other variables to support its effect on individual. Recommendation: In lieu of this, a strengthening and revitalization of family foundation of value formation is encouraged to avert towards juvenile delinquency of adolescents. The government is called upon as well to enforce the full force of the law against violation to anti-pornography. Moreover, media must market itself not through elements that deteriorate our youth, pornography, that is. The educational institutions are also called upon to prevention of juvenile delinquency which leads to crimes, petty, or serious. Finally, the nursing practitioners are encouraged to intensify involvement to society, by developing social awareness about result of the study, develop a curriculum which will include new development in research, specifically results of recent studies like this one to inform students of the effects of exposure to pornography results to adolescents.
