ABSTRACT: The effectiveness of the Bachelor of Community Health Service, PLM-Open University is presented based on the conducted result of the program assessment utilizing all the existing records, reports and other documents relevant to the BCHS program. According to the result of the study, the said program was effectively implemented evidenced by the total number of the thousand enrolled for the period of seven (7) years, the forty-two (42) learning centers that were established, its ability to produce the needed learning packages, the effective use of the faculty, facilities and resources, and the granting of the degree to the successful five thousand (5,000) who have complied to the academic and non-academic requirements of the course. As to the degree of participation among the cooperating agencies, the result show a positive remark justified by the provision of the program venue not limited to overhead projectors, telephone facility, white board, table and chairs, etc., but also the provision of the copy of the DILG memorandum circular regarding the program, for the DOH, in facilitating the use of some health care facility and other health related training ground for the purpose. The DECS, to serve as hold in trust the fund sourced out for the program. As for the program assessment is concerned, it is therefore concluded that the BCHS program was effective. However, despite of its positive results, it is recommended for the said program to continue and at the same time for the DCHS office to come-up and establish a Strategic Medium Team Development Program so that the program objective will be achieved to the highest level of performance.
