ABSTRACT: Hypertension is known as the silent killer because it strikes a person without any sign or symptom. Filipinos are definite hypertensive and cases of hypertension continue to increase. The deal is to lessen the risk of developing physical complications such as stroke and heart attack which is the major cause of mortality in the Philippines. This four week study sought to explore the impact of cost and efficacy of antihypertensive medications to the patient's compliance. Utilizing descriptive research and method and purposive sampling design was applied. Initially, the demographic profile of the respondents was taken as part of the sample population of forty (40) patients, diagnosed of hypertension. The researchers measured the rate of compliance of these clients which include assessment of cost and efficacy of their medications in relation to their medical regimen. Findings suggest that a compliance awareness program be conducted with regards to hypertension. Generally, the cost and efficacy of antihypertensive medications doesn't inflict their compliance. But the researchers still planned to conduct a program regarding compliance because if it is further look in depth, many patients, if not all, doesn't strictly adhere to their medication regimen. If additional analysis was done, it was show that even though these patients are compliant, they were not 100% compliant. As a result of this study, it is recommend that compliance awareness program for adult hypertensive Filipino patients with the cooperation of concerned health care professionals.
