ABSTRACT: The purpose of the study was to determine the perceived factors affecting review preferences of the graduating nursing students in PLM for PNLE and this will be a basis for a proposed in-house review. The study was conducted at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila College of Nursing in Intramuros, Manila. The respondents were the senior nursing students of first semester of the school year 2009-2010. Out of the total 203 graduating students, 20% of the population, the researcher used 42 students as respondents. Specifically, the researchers determined the nursing students profile in terms of gender, socioeconomic status, and general weighted average (GWA); and the preferences of the respondents according to review method, mode of review, cost of review classes, qualification of the reviewers, venue for the review, and schedule of reviewing. Then, the significant relationship between the profile and the respondents preferences were tested in order to determine the basis for a proposed in-house review. The descriptive survey research employed design under the purposive sampling technique to arrive on its respondents. A self-made checklist questionnaire was utilized for the survey. The statistical treatments applied were frequency and percentage distribution, weighted mean, chi-square distribution and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Findings showed that the senior nursing students preferred the in-house review method. They also preferred affordable and convenient ways to review and the most important factor for them is the quality of education that they will get. Moreover, the following were found to have no significant relationship: as pertaining to the gender, socioeconomic status and general weighted average profile with the preferences of the respondents. Based on the findings, an in-house review program was proposed to be implemented in PLM College of Nursing to help the students pass and review for the PNLE and to improve what the college and the university as a whole can offer to its students.
