Action note: In: Summary: ABSTRACT: In a role of a nurse is to teach patients healthy is it possible for a nurse under the extremes of BMI (body mass index) to be an effective nurse? This study wanted to assess the relationship of the third year PLM student nurses BMI in relation to their performance in rendering health teachings. Specifically, it sought to answer the following problems. First, is the BMI of the third year PLM student nurses. Second is their level of performance in rendering health teaching to their patients. Third, is the extent of implication of BMI to student nurse's performance in rendering health teaching in terms of: structuring meaning, concreting, and contrascending. Fourth, is if there is a significant relationship between their BMI to their level of performance in rendering health teaching and lastly, its implications to nursing practice. The researchers used the non-experimental descriptive research. Simple random sampling technique was utilized with a self-made questionnaire as the chief instrument. Mean, standard deviation, frequency distribution, weighted mean and Pearson's R was the statistical treatment and used accordingly. Based from the findings and conclusion, these recommendations are hereby presented for consideration: (1) To conduct a study with the basis of knowing that their level of performance in rendering health teaching was high and that their BMI doesn't affect their performance. (2) To use the study in considering any adjustments on the assignments of students in their clinical duties based on their actual BMI's. (3) To conduct the study with a diverse population with a different and larger batch of student nurses. (4) To add other factors that might or might not influence the level of performance in rendering health teaching. Other editions:
