Action note: In: Summary: ABSTRACT: This study was conducted for the purpose of determining the relationship of clinical assertiveness and leadership skills as fourth year nursing students that served as an assessment. The descriptive-correlational research design was utilized and the questionnaires as instrument for collecting data. The instrument that this study used was adapted and modified questionnaire from Ms. Laarne Dumag, RN, MAN, that she used in her thesis entitled; Assertiveness of PLM Nursing Students: Basis for a Learning Program (2007) and an adapted and modified questionnaire of Leadership Skills Questionnaire in Introduction to Leadership: Concept and Practice by Peter G. Northouse, (2012). Purposive-Sampling Technique was used in the study. The researchers set an eligibility criterion for population selection and they are not picked randomly, (Polit&Beck, 2007). The total population of the respondents was 103. The overall assertiveness and leadership skills of fourth year nursing students as described by the results of the statistical treatment was at high extent. The researchers found that there is a significant relationship between assertiveness and leadership skills as perceived by fourth year nursing students. This indicated that the clinical assertiveness had high regard with the perceived leadership skills of fourth year nursing students. The researchers provide the following recommendations the nursing clinical instructors are heartened to help the students on providing instructions in delivering clinical skills. Next, the PLM Nursing Administrators are encouraged to help in the formulation of curricula in considering to nursing students assertiveness and leadership skills. Lastly, the future researchers are recommended to assess the assertiveness and leadership skills of student nurses both in clinical and in academic area, so that, future researchers will be able to compare the results on the skills of student nurses with respect to the two fields. In addition, they are advised to include the clinical instructors and the academic professors as respondents. They will then identify if there will be a gross difference on those areas.
