Action note: In: Summary: ABSTRACT: This study was conducted to know the number of Salesladies with Plantar Fasciitis in Robinson Ladies Section (2nd floor) Ermita, Manila and to know the effects of prolonged standing and wearing high heels on accentuating plantar fasciitis. Since there are no present researches here in the Philippines that focused in this type of population whether they are susceptible to Plantar fasciitis or not. Plantar fasciitis is an overused mechanical injury that affects the sole of the foot. It is characterized by sharp inferior heel pain which is painful upon of weight bearing and after prolonged weight bearing. Diagnosis of plantar fasciitis could be easier with the use of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound. According to literatures, plantar fascia which has >4mm in thickness is positive for plantar fasciitis. Salesladies are required to wear high heels with 2-3 inches heel height. Prolonged usage of high heels was a contributor on decreasing dorsiflexion angle which is the most important risk factor for plantar fasciitis. Salesladies are also required to stand for at least 8 hours as part of their work. Literatures pointed out that plantar fasciitis will likely occur on persons who stand most of the day. Out of the screened subjects, 80% of the salesladies had plantar fasciitis as confirmed by musculoskeletal ultrasound. This study will enlighten them on the effects of prolonged standing and wearing high heels so as the employers and companies that requires their employees to wear high heels as dress code.
