ABSTRACT: The main purpose of this study is to establish the perception of several selected companies in Metro Manila regarding the employment of disabled persons. To obtain this purpose, the researchers focused on the profile of each company, their requirements for hiring of either an able bodied or disabled person, the perceptions about the Magna Carta for Disabled Persons (RA 7277), the company's willingness to accommodate disabled persons and the steps undertaken by different companies to accommodate disabled persons. To further explore on the topic, the researchers defined terminologies based on the context of the study. The researchers approached ten (10) companies, five from the public companies, and the other half from the private companies. The study found out that most large and small companies are aware of the Magna Carta however, they have different perceptions. These are the following: (1)) Fair and equal opportunity to disabled persons for employment, (2) Rights and privileges and disabled persons, (3) Training and assistance of disabled persons, (4) Hiring of disabled persons, and (5) Public access of disabled workers as well as to make policies to accommodate these disabled persons. On the other hand, private companies are more aware of the Magna Carta for Disabled Persons. This can be attributed to the tax incentives that the government that provided in order to encourage these private companies to hire disabled workers. In general, most of the companies are unsuccessful in accommodating disabled persons.
