ABSTRACT: This study aimed to assess the Spiritual and Caring Behavior of Filipino nurses at Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center (OMMC). The study was conducted from April 18 to May 2, 2015 in which 86 Filipino nurses became the respondents of the study. Specifically, the study sought to answer what are the levels of Spiritual Intelligence of Filipino nurses are in terms of: Critical Existential Thinking (CET): Personal Meaning Production (PMP); and Transcendental Awareness (TA). Also, the levels of caring behaviors of Filipino nurses in terms of the ten (10) carative factors of Watson, when grouped according to: caring behavior towards patient as an individual; caring behavior towards interpersonal relationship with patients; caring behavior towards giving bedside care to patients; and caring behavior towards emotions. The study showed a significant relationship between Spiritual Intelligence and Caring Behavior of Filipino nurses. The findings of the study were used as basis for staff development program. Descriptive method of research was used in this study, specifically the descriptive-correlational method. In order to answer the questions raised, an adopted questionnaires from two different authors was used as the main data gathering measurement. The statistical treatment that was utilized were weighted mean and Pearson R using Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20 and Microsoft Excel 2013. The results showed that Filipino nurses has a very high spiritual intelligence and a very high caring behavior. Lowest ranked from the Spiritual Intelligence was used to become the basis of the staff development program. Is is therefore strongly recommended to implement the output of the study which is the staff development program to further enhance the spiritual intelligence of Filipino nurses which will further enhance the caring behavior of Filipino nurses as well. Also, a comparative study between Filipino nurses working in the government and provate hospitals is hereby recommended to investigate if there is any difference in the spiritual intelligence and caring behavior of the Filipino nurses.
