ABSTRACT: This study primarily aimed to determine the effect of health education session on National Tuberculosis Program in Brgy. Magahis, Tuy, Batangas. This study sought the answers the to the following questions: what is the demographic profile of the study group and comparison group in terms of; age, educational attainment, civil status , years of residency, and gender, what is the level of knowledge before and after the health education session of the study group and comparison group in terms of: disease process, management/medication, and prevention and control; is there a significant difference between the level of knowledge before and after the intervention in the: study group, and comparison group; is there a significant difference between the level of knowledge of the comparison group and the study group in terms of pre test and post test. The hypothesis raised on this study was at 0.05 level of significance; the researcher used the quasi - experimental research method utilizing 150 selected residents of Sitio Magahis 1 and 2 in Brgy. Magahis, Tuy, Batangas who passed the criteria set for the study. The study utilized a self made questionnaire which includes three variables under disease process, management/medication and prevention and control. The data that was gathered were treated using appropriate statistical tool such frequency distribution, percentage, mean, t-test of dependent samples and t-test of independent samples. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) was used for the statistical computations of the study. Based on the findings, it revealed that majority of respondents are females and are married, had reached High School and College level, had stayed for more than 20 years in the area and in their active years in life. It also revealed that both groups scored High on their level of knowledge before and after the health education session under disease process, management / medication, prevention and control. It also found out that there is significant difference between the level of knowledge of both groups before and after the health education session based on their pre test and post test. In addition, there is no significant difference between the level of knowledge before and after the health education session on both groups based on their pre test and post test. This study recommends having regular monthly health education session, encouraged males to participate in the health education and to trained health workers to use other strategies in health teaching.
